Dumisani Ndlovu was born in 1969 in Lupane, Zimbabwe and currently works from the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in a printmaking studio. Currently based at Amakhosi Cultural Centre Bulawayo From 1991 to 1993 he trained in drawing and painting at the Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre Bulawayo. He attended Magwegwe secondary school 1985 to 1988 where the headmaster Mr. Evans noticed his talent and encouraged him to do art. Themes in his art works are people and things around him. He wants his audience to find solutions in his art work because it deals with current issues. His art has changed a lot from art’s sake to art works that tell a story. His artistic influences are things he sees and people around him. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad such as” 2025 Sanctuary – Art in Hospitality Bulawayo. 2025 New construction exhibition Clifford Chance and Zimbabwe Embassy UK. 2021 Artists Retreat workshop at Khami lodge and exhibition titled “Metamorphosis”, Zimbabwe Heritage 1993 – 1996”, International exhibition of Graphics, Portland Art Museum, U.S.A” (1997), “International exhibition” Africa Exhibit” Germany” (2000),“8th International exhibition of Prints and Drawings – Grafinnova” Finland (2002) and “Visual Artists Association of Bulawayo” (VAAB) annual exhibitions since 1993. Zimbabwe Denmark Cultural Art Dialogue workshop and exhibition National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo (ZIDKCAD) 2015 Most of his work is collagraph – which is printing onto paper using a pressure press to transfer the design from a plate onto the paper, which also gives a textural relief to the design if he has used glue or objects to create the relief
